Our Stakeholders
Trustees
Our five Trustees are united in their vision of improving the lives and prospects of children disadvantaged by poverty, poor housing, social exclusion and other factors. The skills our trustees bring to Kids N’ Action are a mix of what is needed to keep the charity vibrant, financially stable and flexible enough to respond to change, both internal and external. They have a good understanding of the community they serve, and, as well as their input into Kids N’ Action, they are local activists, working unobtrusively for the good of local residents.
They comprise 2 business people; 2 others are deeply involved in the running of local schools, and they are all committed to a successful future for Kids N’ Action.
Staff
Most of our staff have been with us for a number years. They are all experienced and skilled in youth work; they all have DBS checks, and we recruit vigorously and safely, following up references in writing and verbally. We also have some staff with physical and/or learning disabilities. They know how to deal with challenging behavior, they have training in First Aid, Health and Safety, Safeguarding of children and young people, a comprehensive induction programme, and most of them have NVQ3 and QCF qualifications.
What they all have in common is their devotion, their loyalty, their approach, their abilities, and their commitment to giving these deprived kids the opportunities of a lifetime.
Volunteers
We recruit a loyal group of 100 young volunteers each year, aged 14-19 years, Kids N’ Action’s programmes are a wonderful opportunity for them to be inducted into youth work at the age at which they are making career choices. We train them on the job, and give them the chance to achieve AQA accreditation in leadership skills and voluntary work with children. They add life and colour to our programmes, and provide much needed hands on support at all activities.
We value their input, and give them fun opportunities too, which develop a team spirit between them and keeps their enthusiasm going.
Without our volunteers, Kids N’ Action’s projects would be the poorer; their youth and vitality makes all the difference.
Our Funders
Where would we be without our loyal and generous funders?
Our funders are made up of a broad spectrum of Trusts, Foundations, Companies and other benefactors. They understand the desperate need for out of school activities for disadvantaged young people, and respond consistently, regularly and generously to our requests for funding.
We are gratified that our funding base has increased both in numbers of donors and in the amount donated.
